Flourished Italic

The characteristics of this hand being:-

a compressed shape with a slight forward slope and the serifs arching to the right at the top of the ascenders.

This calligraphic hand was developed during the renaissance period and developed further around the 19th century.

These minuscules are more exuberant characters than the formal Italic minuscules.

A few flourishes or swashes added to the majuscules can be used with good effect to make a piece of work that extra bit special.
